SuperStroke revolutionized the putter grip market when it launched in 2009 from Michigan with an oversized, non-tapered design that challenged decades of conventional grip geometry. The company's breakthrough insight was that larger, uniform-diameter grips reduce hand tension and wrist movement during the putting stroke, promoting a more consistent, pendulum-like motion. The original SuperStroke grip quickly gained adoption on professional tours, with players like Jordan Spieth, Sergio García, and Jason Day using the grips to win major championships. That tour validation created a halo effect that drove widespread adoption among amateurs seeking to improve their putting. SuperStroke grips, particularly the Traxion and S-Tech lines, are now ubiquitous at every level of the game, found on millions of putters worldwide. The company has expanded into grip offerings for woods and irons, though putting remains its core business. SuperStroke's success forced traditional grip manufacturers like Golf Pride and Lamkin to develop their own oversized options, validating the category SuperStroke created. The brand has also introduced innovations like CounterCore weights, which allow golfers to adjust swing weight and balance. SuperStroke operates globally with distribution through major retailers, custom club fitters, and online channels. The brand's growth demonstrates how a single, focused innovation can disrupt an established category, putter grips were a stagnant, commoditized market before SuperStroke introduced a product that genuinely changed performance. While competitors have caught up, SuperStroke maintains category leadership through tour presence, brand recognition, and continuous iteration on its core technology.
