Iomic sells grips on a variable most golfers have never been asked to think about. The Osaka company built its business around IOMAX, a five-elastomer compound that is UV and water resistant, and then went further by quantifying grip torque and building a range around different torque profiles, on the argument that the grip twists in the hands the same way a shaft twists in the swing. That is a genuinely unusual claim in a category that mostly competes on tack and diameter. The colour programme did the rest: Iomic's Color Grip Series gave the brand visual identity on tour bags and in Japanese pro shops long before anyone else in the grip aisle was thinking about palette. Grips are made in Japan and Thailand, and IOMIC USA runs North American distribution out of Irvine, California. The competitive set is Golf Pride, SuperStroke, Lamkin and JumboMax, all of which are already on the Index. Iomic is the one that has always been more visible in Asia than in the US, which makes its market-by-market split the interesting part of the read.
