Arnie McNair is one of the more interesting brand stories in golf right now, and not entirely because of the clothes. Officially launched January 24, 2026, the brand is the work of an anonymous founder operating under the Arnie McNair pseudonym, a forty-year-old Minnesota-based country club golfer and member of golf X’s so-called “Burnerverse” who started tweeting in late 2024 and built a following large enough to translate into pre-orders within a year. Pieces are produced almost entirely in the United States from natural fibers: American-grown Supima cotton, cotton twill, and cashmere sourced from Italy. The McNair Polo retails at $95. The brand uses an old-school catalog model where production runs are batched after sales windows close, with a four-to-six-week lead time per item. The positioning is an explicit rejection of where golf apparel has gone. No visible logos. No polyester. No private equity. No trends. The marketing voice is openly combative toward what Arnie calls “Big Polyester” and the “Big Golf Industrial Complex,” and the brand has cultivated a loyal “Army” of buyers across the U.S. who appreciate the stance as much as the shirts. Pieces marked AM are dedicated to Arnie’s brother, a U.S. Marine who passed away in 2004, with proceeds going to Stop Soldier Suicide. The reach has accelerated quickly. Chad Mumm, the executive producer of Netflix’s Full Swing and co-founder of Pro Shop Holdings, posted publicly about pre-ordering The Polo and having dinner with Arnie in Los Angeles, calling the moment one where “Big apparel is shaking right now.” Whether the brand can scale beyond its current small-batch, made-to-order model without losing the values that built the audience is the open question. So far, Arnie McNair has done what almost no new golf apparel brand manages: build genuine cultural heat before having product on shelves.
