Never Compromise has one of the more interesting lineages in putters. Brad Adams founded it in 1998, having already helped launch the original Odyssey in 1991, and being the son of Gary Adams, who founded TaylorMade. The black-and-grey heads read well on television, Vijay Singh and David Toms put them in play, and the Voodoo series pushed tungsten and alignment contrast into the mainstream. Cleveland Golf acquired the brand in 2003, Sumitomo Rubber bought Cleveland in 2007, and by 2013 Never Compromise had been quietly shelved. Dunlop Sports Americas brought it back in January 2024 as Never Compromise Reserve, five models at $449.99, and made a deliberate choice not to hang it off Cleveland, Srixon or XXIO. The relaunch is built around a length-first fitting process using a proprietary tool, on the argument that the putter is the most used and least fitted club in the bag. That is a correct argument. Whether a dormant brand is the right vehicle for it, after eleven years off the shelf, is what the numbers will tell us.
