Linksoul was founded in 2008 by John Ashworth, the designer behind original Ashworth Golf, with a philosophy that golf is more than a sport, it's a way of life. Based in Oceanside, California, the brand builds apparel designed around the spirit, culture, and soul of the game rather than performance metrics or technical innovation. The emphasis is on comfort, authenticity, and the timeless rituals that make golf meaningful beyond scorecards. Linksoul's collections center on relaxed fits, soft fabrics, and design details drawn from coastal living and classic American sportswear. Signature pieces include lived-in button-downs, cashmere sweaters, and weathered cotton polos that look equally appropriate at a beachside pub as they do on the first tee. The brand avoids aggressive moisture-wicking claims or athletic branding in favor of understated style and natural materials. It's golf apparel for people who play the game but don't want to look like they're dressed for a corporate outing. The company operates its own experiential retail space in Oceanside, part clubhouse, part community hub, reinforcing the lifestyle positioning. Linksoul appeals to golfers who care more about the walk, the conversation, and the 19th hole than chasing distance gains or tour-level performance. It occupies a distinct lane in the golf apparel market: not streetwear, not technical, but rooted in a quieter, more contemplative vision of what golf culture can be. In an industry increasingly dominated by loud logos and performance fabrics, Linksoul remains committed to softness, authenticity, and the belief that golf should feel good, not just play well.
