Gumtree Golf & Nature Club is a slow fashion brand that treats a golf course as a landscape first and a venue second. Karsten Jurkschat, Australian by origin and Brooklyn-based, started it in 2020 out of burnout in the corporate creative industry, having found that walking a city course at 5am gave him the mental break he was looking for. His father was a landscape gardener and his German grandmother taught him to sew, and both show up in the work. Every release is upcycled from found or heirloom textiles: headcovers cut from a single 1970s waxed canvas farm tent in Vermont, which sold out in thirteen minutes, and again from five pairs of vintage fishing waders; Japanese lace linen shirts embroidered with state flower patches salvaged from 1940s to 1970s American textiles. Production runs through a small Manhattan workshop with fulfilment in Brooklyn, and the model is self-funding, one drop paying for the next. PUMA Golf partnered with it in 2026 on the Field Notes collection, which is the clearest sign yet that the majors want what this brand has and cannot make it themselves.
